$20 For a Half Day or Twilight Sportfishing Trip at Newport Landing Sportfishing ($40 Value)

Ninjas prefer night shifts not only because they have an easier time staying out of their victim’s sight, but also because they can sneak out of work to sportfish in the open sea without getting caught by their shuriken-wielding supervisors. For $20, today’s Perk invites you to 5 hours of Twilight sportfishing in the cover of darkness, or sunlit half-day trips on weekdays (a $40 value!). Newport Landing’s general Twilight trips last from 7pm to midnight daily in the months of May through September. On days when Twilight trips aren't available, this Perk can be redeemed for 1/2 day trips. This family friendly adventure is fun for everyone including children, as long as they’re allowed to stay past their bedtime.

As the waves glisten in the moonlight, relax with the expert crewmembers and fellow anglers while keeping an eye out for the next goliath fillet. You can bring your own fishing rods and equipment on board, but coolers, ice chests, and outside alcohol are prohibited. Those without fishing equipment can rent them from the venue at rates listed at the bottom of this page. Before James Bond underwent many rigorous years of training to obtain his License to Kill, he was proud to wear a license to fish during his leisurely hours at the beach. This license is required for all fishermen ages 16 and older, and is available for 1 day ($15.10) or 1 year ($45.95) at Newport Landing.

No boating trip is complete without good food, and good food is what Newport Landing’s four proud fishing boats offer. Their full service snack bars and kitchens carry an ABC license so you can enjoy a refreshing glass of beer while fish investigate the drifting morsels of bait below. Feel free to ask their friendly staff for fishing advice and assistance. If you manage to reel in a fish, they can even clean and fillet it for you for a nominal fee. It is recommended to show up an hour ahead of departure for parking and check in. The parking structure is the ideal place to park for day trips. Since it closes at 10pm, you can park at metered spots or at the Balboa Pier Parking lot for Twilight trips.

Reviews

Newport Landing Sportfishing netted 3.5 stars on Yelp and 4.5 stars on Yahoo.

"Just awesome! Great, polite, courteous and KNOWLEDGEABLE staff! Captains John and Rob (Patriot) are always on the fish, Ben, Justin and the rest are FIRST CLASS! Super nice, super willing to help you out with anything from tangles, bagging, and especially other stuff that they're supposed to do like gaffing, etc. One of the deckhands (didnt get his name) even hooked a yellowtail and let me reel it in and keep it!!!"

"7 friends and I went deep sea fishing for the first time. 3 words I LOVED IT! the staff was the friendliest staff i ever experienced as far as service. They tied our rods, put the hooks on even put on the bait for us. We didn't even have to handle the fish, you give them a tip at the end of the trip and they even fillet the fish for you (my wife loved that part). Between 7 guys we caught 22 fish! an average of about 3 each.

Overall the food was great service was excellent and everybody was right this is the best place to go deep sea fishing in southern California Highly recommend it!"

@asngrl76 - There are twilight on the weekends. Twilight ends in September, so you can redeem this Perk for a half day fishing trip on any weekend after Twilight ends. Hope this answers your question - let us know!

Not a fan of hunting animals for sport. It should be banned... Sorry, Albert, anything but this.
